It’s always such an honor when old friends get married and decide that Antonia Christianson Events is an awesome fit for them! I hadn’t seen Jennifer since the halls of high school, but it was certainly awesome when she emailed us about planning and design of her big day! I loved being able to plan with her and Nik while she finished up grad school in Canada and Nik put together their home on the west coast. We knew the neighborhood that they were getting married in well and had planned “at home” events there in the past, so we were none too excited when Jenn and her mom told us that the wedding would be held at her childhood home! It truly was a stunning day! Jennifer really wanted an Al Fresco dining experience, so we planned the day so that if the weather was amazing (as it was!!) everything could unfold as we planned…and if it was less than perfect, everything we designed could be placed without moving under a tent. I don’t know that we could have asked for anything more spectacular! There were a few key elements that we made sure to include all with homage to Jen and Niks love for family, and their roots. Family style dining was a must have request, and it worked out awesomely. We work with Jennifer and Roost to design a concept that was aesthetically pleasing when the guests entered the reception space, and also when they sat down. Hanging arrangements was a first for us, and we love how it turned out! The couple was also wine lovers and travelers so with the help of a very well versed bartender from Sweetwater Cuisine and a creative “Flight sheet” from RSVP stationery, we were able to give our guests a wine tasting under the stars that was one of the “hits” of the evening (that included wines from some of the couples favorite locations!). One of the best surprises of all was a great live action dessert display. Behind a gorgeous white drape, was home made (or should we say, made on the spot!) maple sticks. This is a tradition when it gets cold in Niks home town, so it was a really fun surprise to include. It’s a neat mixture of piping hot syrup on ice, that makes a lollipop. His Canadian family was so impressed, and the locals loved it too! There were so many gorgeous details, and so much love that day, we hope the pictures we chose to share with you give you a little snippet into this gorgeous wedding!
I think one of my favorite details came from Jennifer when she said her vows to Nik in french. An homage to his bi-lingual family that was in attendance and his first language learned.
