We always love to travel with our clients, and our typical destinations take us to those places that are beautiful and warm, so when Avery and Davey came to us with requests of Iceland in December we were fully up for the challenge! Avery a university recruiter and Davey a jeweler had visions of an intimate countryside affair in a remote village that both had never been to. While they are world travelers the weather during the winter months in Iceland brought for some fun logistical issues for everyone. We decided on the gorgeous Hotel Husafell, at the base of the ice glaciers, for the reception and the perfect little 27 seat chapel in the same town for their ceremony. There had been a place of worship on this land for over eleven hundred years, and the feeling that washed over you when stepping into the chapel was awe-inspiring. Their marriage ceremony was performed by both their home pastor, Adam Cates, and an Icelandic Pastor, Hans Alfredsson, and the couple was sung down the aisle by their friend and musician Lenee Thornton. As if on cue, as soon as the newlyweds walked out of the ceremony, snow started falling as they posed for their traditional newlywed images. Guests were greeted back at the Hotel Husafell with a delicious fireside lunch where their loved ones shared stories of the couple and toasted to their future. Our favorite memory of the weddingwas the ability for all of their guests to enjoy each others company as one large family during all of the wedding festivities, from flying in to Iceland, the gorgeous drive to the small village town of Husafell, to enjoying meals together, it was one of the most memorable wedding experiences we have ever had the honor of planning and participating in.
